Objects and Rituals for a Private Life
KAS di KOS means house of things in Papiamentu, the language of Curaçao and the Dutch Caribbean.
Founded in the United States and shaped by Curaçao, Anguilla and American life, KAS di KOS creates objects for the rituals of home. Our work moves between fragrance, glassware, stone, wood, bath, tabletop and other objects that become part of how a space is lived in.
We Begin With Ritual
A drink at the end of the day. Preparing a room for someone’s arrival. Burning incense before dinner. Bathing. Recovering. Being alone.
The Object Follows
Materials are chosen for what they contribute to that experience and for how they change with time and use. We are drawn to stone, wood, glass, leather, fragrance and natural variation, working with makers and specialists whose knowledge gives each object its particular character.
Our Caribbean heritage informs the way we think about hospitality, atmosphere, resourcefulness and the relationship between people and the spaces they inhabit. It is not a motif or a fixed aesthetic. It is one of the places from which we see.
KAS di KOS produces in finite quantities and works across objects, scent and experience.
The home is a private interior world. We make things for what happens there.
